As metaphors for order and rationality, plotting and mapping reflect our need to describe and analyze our physical world and to find our place in it. These maps, or allusions to maps, depict weather on the sun or earth, sometimes by using the shorthand marks of weather maps. The series Islands of Heat and Bodies of Water speak to human effects on weather patterns, the heat islands of urban development mapped by heat sensing instruments.
